Why Chechersk district

Chechersk district is located in the north-east of the Gomel region on the banks of the River Sozh, which crosses its territory from north to south. The district borders with Korma, Vetka, Buda-Koshelevo and Rogachev districts of Gomel region, Krasnopolye district of Mogilev region and along the River Kovpita with Krasnogorsk district of Bryansk region of the Russian Federation.

The area has quite favorable natural conditions for the development of all spheres of human activity. The climate is moderately continental with warm summers and mild winters. The flat nature of the relief contributes to the development of settlements, agricultural land development, the functioning of industrial organizations and highways.

Chechersk district has a significant tourist potential, which still remains untapped. 33 monuments with the historical and cultural heritage status remained on the district territory, 13 of them are located in Chechersk. These are architectural objects that refer to the XVIII century and were built under Count Zakhar Chernyshev. Thanks to the presence of such unique architectural monuments as the town hall and the rotunda temple, Chechersk is one of the main tourist destinations of the Golden Ring of Gomel Region.

The territory of the district has also one of the Stone Age monument, – the Berdyzh primeval site, which, along with the Yurovichy primeval site, is the oldest in Belarus.

As per territory development type, the Chechersk district is an agrarian sector. The main specialization and the basis of the economy of the Chechersk district is agriculture. The agriculture of the district specializes in livestock breeding (cattle, hog production), the cultivation of grains, forage crops and potatoes. The main current potential of the Chechersk district is agricultural (agrarian), the promising - agro-industrial with an emphasis on primary processing of agricultural products. The share of the agricultural sector in the district revenue is more than 50%. The main GDP-oriented enterprises of the industry are OAO Otor and OAO Zvezda, the share of which makes 28.6% and 23.3%, respectively, in the revenue from the sale of the entire agricultural output of the district.

The district population is 14.4 thousand people, including urban – 8.8 thousand people, rural – 5.6 thousand people.

The working-age population is 57.9% of the total population.

The main purpose of investment activity in the district is to create conditions for encouraging various forms of investment aimed at creating modern progressive enterprises capable of production with high added value and export competitiveness, as well as focused on import substitution.

The main priority of investment activity in the district
will be investment attraction - creating new production facilities, and updating existing enterprises.

The main objectives are:

raising the efficiency of investment activity, including ensuring priority investment in the active part of fixed assets.

The main measures to boost investment activity will be:

qualitative elaboration of new effective investment proposals, the implementation of which is possible from foreign sources, mainly through foreign investors;

building high-quality individual work with foreign investors;

creating conditions (information and consulting assistance) to attract concessional lending resources.

An important area of the investment process in the district will be the development of the agricultural complex;

forming a list of investment proposals and developing feasibility studies for their implementation;

forming a list of land plots and inefficiently used real estate, developing and filling relevant information for placement on investment portals on the Internet and providing to potential investors;

organizing and taking part in image events (forums, fairs, meetings, etc.), presentations of investment opportunities of the district;

creating and developing modern infrastructure.
