40.9% of buckwheat planted in Belarus

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Buckwheat has been planted on 40.9% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,993,100 hectares, which is 84.2% of the plan. Buckwheat was planted on 14,200 hectares (40.9%), millet – on 4,810 hectares (48.6%). Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 47,800 hectares, which is 77.6% of the target.

Maize was planted on 973,600 hectares (79.5%), including maize for silage (72.7%), potatoes on 14,700 hectares (87.8%), vegetables on 3,950 hectares (78.7%). The planting of flax, sugar beet, early crops and grain maize has been completed.

Annual grasses were planted on 159,200 hectares, which is 65.1% of the plan. First grass was cut on the area of 139,700 hectares, which is 9.94% of the plan.
