Potatoes planted on over 95% of designated area in Belarus

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural workers have planted potatoes on 95.5% of the target area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were planted on the area of 2,124,300 hectares, which is 89.8% of the plan. Buckwheat was planted on 22,100 hectares (63.5%), millet on 6,190 hectares (62.5%). Spring rapeseed was planted on the area of 48,700 hectares, which is 79% of the target.

Maize was planted on 1,068,500 hectares (87.2%), including maize for silage (82.6%), potatoes on 16,000 hectares (95.5%), vegetables on 4,260 hectares (84.8%). The planting of flax, sugar beet, and early crops has been completed.

Annual grasses were planted on 181,100 hectares, which is 74.1% of the plan. First grass was cut on the area of 255,700 hectares, which is 18.2% of the plan.
